K-water Announces Cooperation Strategies in Water and Renewable Energy at the “Korea–Philippines Business Forum”

K-water announced cooperation strategies in the fields of water and renewable energy at the Korea–Philippines Business Forum held in Manila on March 4 during the Korean president’s state visit to the Philippines. Following the forum, K-water met with local companies to establish a cooperative framework and developed practical implementation plans for bilateral cooperation.
As part of its on-site efforts to advance renewable energy projects, K-water CEO Seogdae Yun reached a direct agreement with leading Philippine energy company First Gen Corporation to participate jointly in a pumped-storage hydropower project in the northern Manila area. Pumped-storage hydropower has recently gained global attention as a key solution for stabilizing national power grids amid the expansion of renewable energy. Both parties agreed to develop concrete project execution plans through this meeting.
In addition, K-water agreed to participate jointly in alternative water resource development including seawater desalination and water and wastewater projects with SM Prime Holdings, the developer of the Pasay 360 Smart City project in the western Manila area. This collaboration aims to diversify Manila’s water sources in response to increasing water demand driven by urban growth. The two projects are expected to cost more than KRW 1 trillion if implemented, providing new momentum for Korea’s water industry.

K-water Wins GLOMO Award at MWC with AI-Based Water Management

K-water showcased Korea’s competitiveness in AI-based water management technologies at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026 held in Barcelona, Spain, from March 2 to 5.
Following its participation in the Consumer Electronics Show in the United States in January, K-water focused on advancing its AI water management technologies into global cooperation and business opportunities at MWC, the world’s largest mobile exhibition. In particular, it highlighted three flagship “super-gap” technologies—digital twin for water management, AI-powered water treatment plants, and Smart Water Network Management (SWNM)—to enter into high value-added markets based on AI and digital technologies.
These achievements earned K-water a prestigious GLOMO Award, which is awarded in only 30 categories of innovative technology worldwide. Notably, K-water’s SWNM technology was selected as a winner at MWC, marking the first time a Korean public institution has received this honor and demonstrating its world-class AI technological capabilities.
K-water also expanded its global partnerships by discussing future cooperation with leading big tech companies such as Google, Meta, and IBM. Furthermore, it strengthened its network for entry into the European market by signing memoranda of understanding with GSMA—the organizer of MWC—as well as the Catalan Water Partnership and the R&D institute Eurecat.
