In celebration of its 55th anniversary, K-water has launched ‘Warm Winter with the K-water’ campaign to help the socially marginalized class spend a warm winter.
The campaign started in the third week of November, and it is scheduled to continue for one month. During the campaign, the basin headquarters located across the country as well as K-water Headquarters will participate actively in donation and sharing activities. On November 16, ‘the labor-management joint kimchi donation event held in celebration of K-water’s 55th anniversary’ took place at the Jung-ri Social Welfare Center located in Daejeon Metropolitan City. Some 70 people including K-water CEO Park Jae-hyeon and Noh Cheol-min, the leader of the K-water labor union, attended the event. K-water donated around 3,600 heads of cabbages made into kimchi.
The kimchi was donated to some 720 families from the financially disadvantaged class in Daedeok-gu, Daejeon City, with each family receiving 10kg of kimchi.
The kimchi donation event was also held in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do and Daegu Metropolitan City. Employees of the Geumgang River Basin Headquarters and Nakdonggang River Basin Headquarters visited a total of around 320 local households and delivered kimchi in a relay kimchi donation campaign.
In addition to the kimchi donation event, Warm Winter with the K-water Campaign also includes a range of activities for local children. Employees of six departments of the Han River Basin Headquarters in Gyeonggi-do came together to offer special meals to help local youths stay healthy and warm during the winter. Employees of 8 departments of the Yeongsan/Seomjin River Basin Headquarters in Gwangju Metropolitan City donated play kits produced in collaboration with Good Neighbors to children living on remote islands and mountain areas and spent a fun time with the children.
The step donation campaign is implemented in connection with the social contribution platform ‘Big Walk’. The campaign target is ‘111,600,000’ steps meaning K-water’s anniversary, which is November 16. The campaign is scheduled to go on for a month, and anyone can join the campaign.
Once the target is met, the proceeds will be donated to the Miral Welfare Foundation and will be used to support the heating cost for the financially disadvantaged class.
K-water CEO Jae-hyeon Park said, “The campaign was launched to fulfill our social responsibility as a public corporation. K-water will be actively involved in a variety of sharing activities that local communities can join.”
